They returned.
Without warning, without explanation.
As if time had simply decided to bring them back there.
The balcony no longer exists.
In its place, a vast, silent, golden field, where memories seem to have taken root.
The sky is slowly becoming overcast.
heavy with something that we recognize but cannot name.
So they move closer.
Shoulder to shoulder, as if to make sure that nothing will escape them this time.
Present in a different way.
As if they had crossed an invisible distance, and were finally returning.
Hands rest, hesitate, remain. We don't dare break the moment.
Here, there is no longer a guardrail, but a tree stump.
And just before the storm broke,
Everything seems possible again.
