Summer 1954, somewhere on a country road in Quebec.
The fields are golden, the air is dry, and the day seems to stretch on endlessly.

They stopped for "just two minutes".
Time to take a photo. Time to capture the moment.

Five men.
Brothers, cousins… and a friend who has been there for so long that we no longer tell the difference.

The one on the left is still holding the stick they used to measure the hay bales, as if he refuses to leave the work altogether. Next to him, there's a genuine smile—he's the one who tells the best stories, the ones that are still being told years later.

In the center, standing a little straighter, a little prouder, is the one who just announced he'll be moving to the city in the fall. No one contradicted him, but since then, something has been hanging between them.

The other two look at the lens, unsure what to do with their hands. One adjusts his jacket, the other keeps his camera as an excuse — as if he preferred to be behind the camera rather than frozen in it.

They don't know it yet, but that photo...
This is the last time they are all together in this way.

Then, life will get involved.
Work, departures, families, silences.

But today, under this blazing sun, there are still five of them.
Together.
